Itinerary Disclaimer: While it is our intention to adhere to the itinerary described below, adventure travel can be unpredictable and may result in necessary or desirable alterations to the trails we ride, accommodation we stay in and destinations we visit.
DAY 1: WELCOME TO SOUTHERN UTAH & the heart of THe desert
After checking into your room with a spectacular view, we encourage you to unpack, settle in and rest up for the adventure ahead!
At 7:00 p.m. head down to the lounge area in front of the pool area for a group meet and greet. We’ll review the incredible week’s itinerary, build our bikes, enjoy some local beverages, eat pizza and take in the spectacular scenery. We’ll provide help for anyone needing assistance assembling bikes.
Welcome to the desert!
DAY 2: INTRO TO DESERT RIDING
Awake to a box breakfast delivered straight to your hotel room then get ready for your first day of riding bikes in the desert southwest!
We’ll hop in our private shuttle van and head to the bike shop to pick up bikes for those who have rented. Today, we’ll review the skills required for the rest of the week, and take the time for tons of practice all while exploring the area, and getting in some solid miles.
SKILLS COVERED:
• body position (plains of movement)
• braking and descending
• gearing and cadence
• climbing and descending
• front wheel lift and rear wheel lift
• cornering and straight line riding
• roll downs
• line choice
• jumps and drops (we’ll start small, and this is optional!)
Our first stop will be a nearby local trail in the Santa Clara Preserve called Barrel Roll. This trail is an intermediate loop with fun flowy sections speckled with some technical slickrock sections...the perfect warm up to southern Utah mountain biking.
For lunch, we’ll head to a nearby art community and enjoy a fresh locally-sourced meal at a cafe in the sunshine.
For the afternoon we’ll head to the Bearclaw Poppy trail. This trail contains a series of fun and technical rollable features of varying levels. For the more adventurous there are a variety of jumps and drops to play on as well. Your guides and coaches will tailor the afternoon ride to the interests of each rider and give everyone a chance to practice and build their skills.
Between our morning and afternoon rides, we’ll get you all ready for the beauty of desert riding.
Top off this day with dinner at the hotel with your new riding mates while taking in the Utah desert sunset!
DAY 3: BIG DAY OF ADVENTURE! RIDE: GUACAMOLE / HIKE: ZION NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll hop in our private shuttle van and head over to our first trailhead along the border of Zion National Park.
This morning we’ll ride the Guacamole Trail: a super fun mix of undulating open-rock riding plus singletrack through juniper and brush.
After the ride, head into Springdale for a picnic lunch at a local park near Zion, one of the first national parks in Utah. Zion's beauty leaves visitors breathless.
Known for its canyons Zion offers up one of North America's premier hiking experiences.
After lunch, we’ll head into Zion for a short hike to the Canyon Overlook. Take in the views of Zion and experience the awe of this inspiring landscape.
We'll head back to the hotel in the evening for a group dinner at the hotel restaurant or head into town for dinner at one of the many nearby St. George restaurants.
DAY 4: GOOSEBERRY MESA TRAIL NETWORK & sunset yoga
After a healthy breakfast at the hotel restaurant, we’ll load into our private shuttle van and head to the world-class trail network of Gooseberry Mesa.
We'll spend the day riding one of Southern Utah’s best mountain bike trail systems. Fun technical climbs, epic slickrock descents, views that will leave you wanting more!
We’ll take lots of food with us so we can spend the entire day riding this extraordinary network of trails. After this incredible day of riding, we’ll head back to the hotel for sunset yoga overlooking the desert landscape.
Tonight we’ll meet in the lobby and head into town for a final dinner together.
Enjoy a hearty steak after all those bike rides and share in laughter and memories with your new riding gals!
day 5: final ride & goodbyes
Awake early for breakfast at the hotel then load into our private shuttle van one last fun ride. This morning we’ll ride a variation of the JEM trail network.
This combination of trails has great names such as Deadringer, More Cowbell, and Cryptobiotic and is a selection of super flowy, fun & fast trails!
After our ride, we’ll stop by the bike shop to drop off bikes (for those who have rented) then head back to the hotel for a quick check out.
We’ll be offering drop-off to the St.George Shuttle Service platform at 12:00 p.m. for those that require it.
It's hugs all around as you bid farewell to amazing southwestern Utah and head home with a bag full of new mountain biking tricks and a huge boost of riding confidence!
