Why do we require an application?

Our application process is in response to two of the most common questions our Riders have prior to booking a trip with us:

1) Am I skilled/fit enough to participate in this Ride?
2) Will the other people on my Ride be skilled/fit enough?

Ensuring that you - and the other Riders on your Ride - are a good fit for the Ride selected is of paramount importance to us. We want to help you pick the Ride that's perfect for you, and ensure that everyone booked on a Ride is on the right Ride for them. That's why we want to know a bit more about you - your mountain biking history, where you ride, how often, etc... - before we take your money.

We review every application and if, based on your responses, we think you're a good fit, we'll approve your application and you'll receive a link to place a deposit. If we think you might not be a good fit (either too skilled or not skilled enough for the Ride you chose), then we'll give you a call to discuss your preferences in greater detail.

Please note: our application process isn't about excluding anyone, or making anyone feel like they're not 'good enough' to participate in one of our Rides. It's about ensuring that you end up on the right Ride for you, with people of similar skill, fitness and riding preferences. In the end this ends up being a much better experience for everyone.

Set against the spell-binding views of the Julian Alps, nestled between Austria and Italy and OFF THE ADRIATIC REACH OF THE MEDITERRANEAN sits a country of sublime natural beauty.

Slovenia is ranked as the greenest and most sustainable country on the Planet by National Geographic, and Triglav National Park stands as the epitome of conservancy and pristine natural treasures. Plus, with the abundance of amenities and sheer volume of scenic gravel paths and dirt roads, this remarkable region happens to offer the perfect setting to soak in the sights aboard an e-mountain bike!

As we circumnavigate the park on our pedal-assisted steeds, you'll explore the mountain ski village of Kranjska Gora, tour around the picturesque waters of Lake Bled, wander the scenic Pkljuka Plateau with its Austro-Hungarian huts, catch a classic steam locomotive ride into Kobarid, discover the setting of Ernest Hemingway’s “A Farewell to Arms”, dine at world-renowned Hisa Franko, chef Anna Ros' Michelin restaurant, canyoneer into the pristine rivers and waterfalls of the Soča Valley and conquer the 51 switchbacks of Vrsic Pass… just to name a few highlights!

Prepare to be amazed by what you can see and accomplish on an e-mountain bike!

IS THIS RIDE FOR YOU?

This Ride is designed to make full use of all the benefits of e-mountain bikes; from covering more ground to making off-road riding more accessible and enjoyable to beginner-level mountain bikers or road bikers. You enjoy a casual pace that allows you soak in the incredible scenery along the way, and you love the idea of a little extra ‘oomph’ built in when the going gets tough or the grade too steep. You’re still looking to get a good workout every day and you're up for some serious adventuring. We’ll spend most of our time on dirt paths and along scenic doubletrack, but you don’t mind the odd pedal on quiet and paved country roads to seamlessly tie in a day’s ride. You love the blend of exquisite culture, food and accommodations with the thrill of adventure, and the idea of trying e-mountain biking to soak in the Slovenian countryside at a moderate pace excites you to no end.

Day 1 - Welcome to slovenia!

We'll pick up at the airport at noon or from beautiful downtown Ljubljana, before we enjoy a scenic 1-hour shuttle to stunning Kranjska Gora. Once checked into our first lodging, we'll get properly fitted on our e-mountain bikes for the week ahead. This will be followed by a wonderful welcome dinner hosted in our beautiful mountain lodge, followed by an overview of the week ahead.

Day 2 - Vrata Valley wonders

In the morning, we'll gear up for a 55km ride starting on a very gentle bike path of paved and gravel roads with views of Triglav National Park to our right. We’ll stop at Vrata Valley, famous for the mesmerizing Pericnik Waterfall, one of the highest among Slovenian waterfalls with a view of the North Wall of Triglav. As Slovenian tradition suggests you aren’t a true Slovenian until you summit Mt. Triglav, think of it as a rite of passage! Spend the night at the fist and only zero waste hotel in Slovenia in the romantic and world-famous town of Bled.

Day 3 - Descent to Bohinj Lake

As we ride over the Pkljuka Plateau up to Uskonvnica, we'll be treated to incredible scenery and high alpine mountain huts. As we break for lunch, we'll feast on a traditional, hearty Slovenian fare made up of fresh, organic, farm-to-table ingredients. In the afternoon, we'll follow a majestic descent to Bohinj Lake - the largest permanent lake in Slovenia covering 318 hectare - where we'll be transfixed by the crystal blue green water that make it a local favourite.

Day 4 - All aboard the Transalpina

We'll start our morning strong with a climb up the Vrh Bače mountain pass on a historic World War I military road. We'll catch sight of ancient barracks and bunkers along the way. Once you hit the top, its 800 vertical metes down to Podbrdo where we'll catch the incredibly scenic train ride aboard a restored steam locomotive. The scenic ride along the old Transalpina railway and surrounding bucolic hills ends in Most na Soči where we'll enjoy a lakeside lunch. Finish up the day with a 20 km ride along the stunning Soča – one of the most pristinely beautiful rivers in Europe.

Day 5 - Soča thrills and Hisa Franko

What a day we have in store... First off, it's time to stretch your legs off the bike! We'll put on wetsuits and climbing harnesses as we get ready to rappel down a series of waterfalls and chutes. This is a truly  exhilarating (and refreshing!) experience you will never forget! Dinner this evening will be at the famous Hisa Franko restaurant, featured on Netflix’s “Chef’s Table” and Time Magazine’s 2018 “100 Greatest Places” for a dining experience that will be equally unforgettable.

Day 6 - Nadiza's healing powers

While on our ride today, we'll visit a traditional shepherd’s house to see how cheese is produced. Luckily for us,  we'll get to sample the end product! In the afternoon, we'll enjoy a picturesque and flowy descent on an old military road down to the valley. We'll cool off in the turquoise waters of the   Nadiza  river which, according to folk tales, is believed to have healing properties. Bring it on!

Day 7 - Tolminka River Springs

The road leading along the ridge of Mt. Kolovrat is incredibly panoramic and offers splendid views of the Soča Valley and the Julian Alps. We’ll descend to the valley floor following a combination of fire roads and doubletrack trails all the way to Tolmin. Enjoy the emerald blue waters of the mysterious Tolminka springs. Grab a beer (you earned it!) and pedal along fire roads next to the Soca River back to Kobarid for a lazy afternoon.

Day 8 - Vrsic pass' switchbacks

Today, we'll conquer the epic 51 switchbacks along Vrsic Pass, a road made during World War I by Russian slaves with sections featuring remarkable cobblestone road work. We'll descend into the ski village of Kranjska Gora for our final dinner and a farewell party.

Day 9 - Ljubljana farewells

We'll enjoy breakfast and a final stroll in the village before packing up and hopping in our shuttle back to Ljubljana . Hugs and high fives  as we bid adieu after this incredible week spent together!
